This past weeks edition of Beer Guys Radio engaged in one of the more informative and entertaining discussions of Oktoberfest and German beer I’ve heard or read in a while. There are a number of craft beer radio shows and podcasts out there; most of which are pretty good, some of which are downright silly. Beer Guys Radio does a great job of being informative, while keeping it light and entertaining.
Tim Dennis and Brian Hewitt have been hosting their radio show and podcast for a number of years now and have developed a steady following. The show, based in the Atlanta area, is currently broadcast by thirteen affiliates in ten states. Better yet, you can catch their show anytime, day or night, by podcast via iTunes, Google Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, TuneIn, Stitcher, Libsyn, and RSS Feed.
In this weeks edition, Tim and Dennis, along with Ryan Folgegren and Jamey Adams from Arches Brewing in Hapeville, Georgia, clear up some questions about what exactly is Oktoberfest beer in Germany and how it’s different from what you may get here in the United States. They sample a dozen Oktoberfest beers (list of beers here ) and give comments while revealing their favorites. Ryan and Jamey touch on the importance of water chemistry in brewing; which I find to be quite enlightening. This weeks show is one of the better ones even heard centering around Oktoberfest.
The podcasts are about 40 to 45 minutes long, perfect for our normal commutes here in Atlanta! If you you’ve had some confusion over what exactly is Oktoberfest beer and Festbier or you are wondering what beers you would like to try this year, I highly encourage your to grab a podcast replay on one of the below services or following the link below to their website.
